My day job, is traveling the globe coaching and training people on communication skills. So, this world of Triumph is something I came into after taking a motorcycle safety course in 2020. I picked up this bike, and have been having a ton of fun! So most videos here, are Bike related. There are some others if you poke around. Enjoy the shows. Yes.. once upon a time, I was a film and TV major, and used to produce TV shows, commercials and such. But these days, this is just a fun way to share with others.

Hi Everyone, I enjoy listening to the sound of the motor on this bike! This video is of the bike in June of 2024, with about 18,000 miles on it. I bought it about 4 years ago with 4600 miles, and have enjoyed learning how to work on it, fix it, clean it. Most parts are original Triumph parts. The seat is an original 2002 Triumph Bonneville America seat, that I took to a local upholstery shop to...

Have you ever pushed the button to release the fuel door in your BMW only to find the door will no open as expected? I could not find any videos for the 530e that show where the manual emergency fuel door lock release is or how to use it, so I made this one. I have found it for similar models. But on the 530e, I had to get a little lower to find it. Easy once I knew where to look. I hope this i...

2002 Triumph Bonneville America Engine Engine sound and walk around

Enjoy listening to the sound of a 2002 Triumph Bonneville America. The Engine is a 790cc. The bike weighs about 500 pounds. I don't know if this is a "healthy" sounding engine or not, but I love it. The bike is so smooth to ride. I thought I'd just park and do a walk around for some fun. Enjoy! At the time of this recording the bike has about 9000 miles. I bought it used 7 months ago with 4600 ...

just use steel wool
I like your thinking. I do use 0000 steel wool on the chrome, but it won't take out the color on the pipes.
@@sigmapifsc Thanks for your reply. I've just brought a 2005 speedmaster and need to do the same thing to my header pipes. I've always used steel wool for rusted chrome, and it's worked great. Looks like I'll need to try your way for these. I've watched a few of your vid.s now and really enjoyed them! looking forward to future content :) Cheers

I just purchased a 2003, I noticed the bars are different they are flat across. I am going over the bike the previous owner did some mods to it that I am trying to reverse. I have the tank off and cannot find a clear pictures of how the throttle cable is run starting from the carb on up to the throttle. It kinda looks like the cables run under and straight under the spine in between the ncoils. . Are there any connectors holding or supporting the throttle cable inder the tank?
When I changed my bars risers, to the 2 " taller ones, I had to move the throttle cable. Well, the option was to replace it with a longer one, or to "reroute" the cable. When I did, I learned there was no connector holding or supporting it under the tank. It was loose under there. I did need to disconnect it, so I could rethread it a different way. If I ever switch my bars back to the lower bars, I don't think I'll need to move the throttle cable again. If you can't sort it out, let me know. You can find me on FB and send me pictures of the bike, I might be able to offer some ideas on how to reset things.
This video at around 9 min in, might be helpful in letting you see how the throttle cable is run (before I moved it). ua-cam.com/video/aQF0IF6ZdTU/v-deo.htmlsi=XQJa-JNQTMe-5FBF&t=547
try this link instead, it's a little before 9 min, but poke around on the video until you see a shot that might help. ua-cam.com/video/aQF0IF6ZdTU/v-deo.htmlsi=ypHpaAaJgqoVbfHl&t=538
No such pull tab on my European 2017 G30 530i (no fuel door button on the driver-side door either).. How can they make a system without backup release???? would have been real nice to be in the middle of nowhere and find out that I can't get the fuel flap open 🤔
Great soundtrack.
Great job Ethan, I’m in RI and went the other way took everything off the bike that I was not able to use. And considering blacking out the chrome. I know you are probably cry😢ing about that but I can’t get it to look as great as your chrome. And you did more than was factory. Maybe I run into you on the road. I always hit the cape in summer. Shinny side up my friend.
Thx Guy, I've been looking for a longer ride, so maybe the RI area is the direction to go! I hear you about the chrome. My brother blacked the chrome on his car. For me, I went all in on making the chrome look good. I found 000 steel wool is like magic, if you havne't tried it yet. I think I have a video of me using it on the rims. Kind of a relaxing gig. Much of what I was doing with the bike was trial and error, as well as ebay find on parts! These old 2002 bikes, most parts are only ebay finds these days. But it makes it kind of fun.
nicest looking Triumph motor I ever seen....all chromed out.🙂
Does the chrome side covers come chrome stock ?
Great video ,but I think I would be nervous doing mine👍
Thanks a lot. Mine is a 2019 I’m guessing it’s the same. Mine stopped working after I worked a 16 hour shift smh, very annoying. I’ll try this after I get some sleep.
Thanks from Spain. Very useful. I own exactly the same bike (model, color, extras,…) and it is my best friend…
You are welcome, and I'm glad you found it useful!
I had 2004 speedmaster last of the carbs it was known in uk that their was a problem with the washer you showed. Under warrentry it was £20 but after warrentry run out it was £180. I went to motercykle college on sat for 2 yrs @ £150 @ term and become a semi qualified bike mechanic. then just after that triumph changed design of washer and fixed problem.
My bike's leaking oil between the casing and the cover, the gasket must have gone. You might have cured the leak, but you might not have cured the problem - let me explain. 1st point - were all the bolts holding the cover tight or were they loose allowing the oil to pass? 2nd point - when you fitted the new gasket and filled the engine with oil, did it leak again - probably not If it was OK when you finished and there were no loose bolts at the start - you've only sorted the leak. - the problem might still be present. A blocked breather on the engine stops excess pressure getting out and it finds another route - normally through a gasket.
Excellent video mate
Good Video, what pipes are those?
Thanks Peter. Those are stock pipes that came with the bike
Very nice video, congrats on your work. You are a professional 😊
The aftermarket tachometer I bought a couple weeks ago is listed on E-bay now for $ 83.90. U.S. It is Chrome 60mm Black Tachometer for Harley Sportster F.X.S. T F.L.S.T M-40 Power Sports 89671 It comes in a nice chrome housing. When you thread the chrome ring off the top, the whole tachometer comes out of the chrome housing and fits nicely in the triumph tachometer location. The width are depth are correct. You have do some minor modifications to get it to sit on bottom the plastic mount.
I changed my dash lights to L.E.D on my 2012 Triumph America. The signal light indicator will only blink on one side. When I put the ordinary bulb back in both sides blink. I think I will have to settle for 3 out of 4 L.E.D lights unless there is a simple solution. I also found a aftermarket tach. on e-bay that fits perfectly in the tach. location. It looks every bit as good as the Triumph one. It was listed for a twin cylinder 4 stroke Harley Sportster engine and was only about $75.00 US. For some reason I can't get it to work. I hooked the trigger wire to the one in the harness that was for the Triumph tach. My next move will be to run a wire directly from the coils to the trigger wire on the tach. hopefully this gets the tach. working. I refuse to pay $ 700.00 Canadian for the Trimuph tach. That is what I was quoted from the Triumph dealer in Canada.
Thx Robert. I had the same issue with the LED. It only worked on one side. It is a simple fix but I’ll need to review my notes for you. It’s a relay that needs to be either added or swapped out. It’s under the tank mid frame and is a plug and play item. I’ll see if I can remember or find any pictures or videos for you. Hang in there! There is hope. Also go to the triumph speedmaster or bonneville groups on Facebook and someone will know the exact part to order!
@@sigmapifsc Thank you so much. I will post on line later today, when I have more time which tach. I purchased on e-bay. I searched high and low for one that was perfect fit with minor modification.
Do you know what you need to do if it’s the other way around? I can’t lock the fuel door even if I lock the car and I always get an error message saying it’s unlocked
So, it closes, and stays closed, but gives you an error message saying it's unlocked? Or does it not stay closed? My guess is that the latch is broken, or perhaps a connection to the latch is loose. I fear that you might have to replace the entire door. Sorry my friend. I could be wrong, but that is my guess. You could try bimmercode, protool, or a similar app to reset the error code, and see if that fixes the problem. If it doesn't, it might be a broken door.
I have the same set up, and I do need a longer front engine mount thru bolt (lower). Any advice on how to find that bolt. Can I just ask a Triumph dealer, then buy one 3/8" longer? and what is the torque for that bolt I don't have that in any manual I have. Thaks
I can look into it for you. How do you know you need a longer bolt? I thought I did but the original bolt fit. Also it gets torqued to 80Nm
This is the exact video that I’ve been looking for. I got a 2014 triumph America in a trade, and my only complaint is that the friction zone was just as I was about to fully release and it took me a while to get used to it to the point where I would not stall. Thank you.
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks great instruction
Had to help a lady at the gas station thanks!!
You saved me at the gas station, thank you so much!!
Hi, looking at the title I was hoping to learn how to connect lightbar wires. How to integrate it into existing wiring loop. Using an extra switch, or connect inline with main beam? No info here .
yeah... not one of my best videos. I was still kind of new to it all when I made this one. sorry about that. Maybe this spring I'll take it apart and walk you through how I spliced the wires for the light bar. I don't have it from memory, but at about 5 min there is a freeze frame of some of the wires so you can at least see how the colors match up.
After 3years I stumbled upon your video of the exchange of bulb to LED on your America. Was it successful or were there issues ...ie after riding with it for a while?
It ended up working out great! Still runs fine with the same bulb! I hope this helps.
Thank you so much helped me and my buddy out
🤤 "Promosm"
I've always liked these motorcycle's from when first saw them, but they were out of reach. A 2006 came up that I couldn't afford to miss haha. I finally got my Triumph Bonneville America 😎 I've been riding near 30 year's & I had it a little over a week & dropped it turning it around outside my garage, just lost my footing. It wasn't even running 🙄 it happens lol. Thanks for sharing your journey Sir 👌
Thx Shane. lol. yup it happens! If you did any damage from the drop, I've got a video somewhere on my channel for the brake pedal, but near the end of that video I also show how I fixed the bent brake pedal from when I dropped it!
These pop off very easy especially if you take off your tank often like I have. Mine is custom now so I just bought advanced autoparts hose. btw you should put "Triumph America" in the title. It can be hard to find videos for these bikes for newbies like I once was
Thx for the title change suggestion! Yeah the original hose basically became brittle and fell apart. The connectors feel like they used to be a softer rubber but it hardened and cracked. I guess 20 years will do that! But I can see what you mean about taking the tank off a lot can weaken the connection. In my case it cracked it. Thx again for the comment!
Saved my day. Was trying to pull off light from top. Almost gave up. Thanks
Thanks for posting! I have the same year and model. I also appreciate you introducing me to Fasteddysports store in your earlier vids. It has been a life-saver working on my '02 America!
My still wont open
bummer... if pulling that plastic cable doesn't do the trick, you may be looking at a trip to the dealer. Or, maybe you have to pull harder? which would be kind of strange, because it's just a release. Maybe the part got damaged or something. I'm not sure... sorry, wish I new more!
You saved me at the gas station thank you SO MUCH
Your welcome Emma... Been there! glad it could help!
Thank you so much. I have been trying to take the pedal off as you have done and adjust it, but I didn't know about the other bolt under the footrest. You have solved my problem. Many thanks.
Yes thank you - this whole venting 'preparing for fueling' and not opening the gas door is the dumbest damn thing ever - when I need gas, open the stupid door, I shouldn't have to worry about whether I can put fuel in my own damn BMW.
When you took off the smaller gear, where the wavy washer lives, the blue marker dot was at about 12 oclock. When you put it back together, that dot wasn't in the same place. Does it not matter which position those gears go back on? Do they have timing marks or anything on them?
Thx! I never noticed that blue dot. So, I’m going to go with it doesn’t matter. It’s been a couple years now and the bike is still running really well!
I like the Honesty of your Video whereby you show the mistakes you encountered, that is a true instructional how to Video, allowing the viewer the opertunity to see the potential Pitfalls they could potentially encounter up front, great Content 👍
Thank you!
Thank you man❤❤❤
Are those the stock exhaust on you motorcycle? Thx.
Yes stock exhaust.
Hi Ethan, thanks again for the great video and I had one last additional question about the oil seal by the lever mechanism on the top of the clutch housing that the clutch cable is attached to. To replace that oil seal I do have to take off the complete clutch housing, is that right? It can’t be done just from the outside? Thanks, Bob Vertz.
Hi Robert, yes, you will remove the clutch cover completely and then clean both sides. And put the new gasket on when putting it back on!
Thanks for the answer Ethan! You had a great video and I plan to subscribe. Bob
Hi Ethan, great video. Maybe someone could help with this question. I have a 2004 triumph T100.oil is leaking by the seal on the clutch housing where the lever is that the clutch cable attaches too. Does anyone know how to fix it?
Thanks Ethan for great video. Maybe someone could answer this question. I have a 2004 Triumph T100. I have an oil leak on the clutch arm lever mounted on top of the clutch housing that the clutch cable attaches to. Do I have to take the complete clutch housing off to replace that seal? Any advice would be appreciated
Hi Robert, I think you do need to replace the seal. If the clutch is open for any reason it's a good idea to replace the seal. I've hear some guys say they just put it back on with out replacing it, butI have to imagine that's a bad idea. Once you get the hang of it, go for it! Maybe order 2 or 3 seals at the same time, just in case you screw it up! let me know if I can be helpful.
This is AWESOME video Ethan! I gonna replace the gasket on my 2002 Bonneville as well, this video help me a lot with the details and situation may facing.
